So if you didn't know, my husband and I are a little music obsessed. We both play a variety of instruments (he is much better) and I sing. We've been in some cover bands and write original music as well. I mean our wedding was rock themed. That's how music crazy we are.
We had records for centerpieces/table markers, used custom cds with our favorite songs on them for escort cards, had the wedding and reception at a local venue, made our own custom guitar shaped cake (shaped like our guitars), had guitar shaped bubbles, had three bands (two of which we were in) play at the reception... The list goes on... My bridesmaids walked down the aisle to "Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin and I walked down the aisle to "Your Love is a Song" by Switchfoot (our two favorite bands).
Well, naturally, when we had kids we had to continue the theme... So our first boy was, of course, James Patrick (for Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin) and our second was Jonathan Mark (for Jon Foreman of Switchfoot). Jon's newborn shoot involved a lot of instruments and they both rock the music tees pretty frequently. Like I said--music obsessed.
I have had the idea of a rock themed shoot in my head for a while and when Jon started walking I knew it was time to get the ball rolling! We already had a cute little green and blue star guitar that I had gotten James for Christmas last year. I decided to sew up a little grey chevron strap for it to make it easier to incorporate into photos.
We have a full size drum set (that both boys absolutely LOVE) but I didn't think that would work out very well for heading to a field (my vision) and it would be too distracting from the subject of the photos (my boys), so I surfed the net and found a cute little set in black to order.
There's a beautiful little field on the other side of Tourne Park here in Boonton that I just love and knew would be perfect for the look I was going for. So the day after the drums arrived, just before sunset, I put the boys in their Zeppelin attire, packed them up along with the guitar, drumset, and a microphone, and headed out!
Here's what we got! Absolutely perfect for what I was going for! The three year old was even relatively cooperative with very few bribes! I hope you enjoy this fun as much as I do!
