Well my big guy turned three years old this year! Wow! Where does the time go? I decided to run to Laurelwood Arboretum for a sunset shoot to celebrate and commemorate the day. We drove over only to find that it was closed due to some improvements being made--bummer!
I frantically searched my phone for a nearby park that we could quickly drive to and grab some shots. We drove to a few different places that didn't suit my incredibly particular fancies ;-) and then finally drove over to Barbour Pond in Wayne, NJ. The first place we pulled up to was actually some sort of business next to the park, but it had a little open field (with a nice little cottontail bunny hanging out to greet us) and pretty trees and the light was quickly fading.
So we jumped out of the car, grabbed what we needed, and were off! We were in such a hurry we actually ended up completely forgetting to get a shot I've been getting of him every year with a previous photo. :-( I remembered almost a month late and we got it then. :-) Oh well!
James takes a while to warm up to places (which I had planned on but the little arboretum closed set back totally ate that time up!) and he mainly wanted to just run around for a while. I rolled with it and got some fun shots of him being him.
After the "must have today" shots (because I'm a little obsessive at times...) were taken, we headed over to the nearby playground to have some end of the day birthday fun (popsicle and everything!). On our way out, James saw the baseball fields and was very intrigued, so we headed over there and grabbed some completely unplanned shots that I just love! It's so wonderful when plans get totally wrecked and you end up with something completely unexpectedly wonderful! :-)
We liked the park so much we ended up going back a couple days later to grab some more shots. Another wonderful, glorious adventure with my completely precocious but oh-so-cute now three year old!
