So my little guy turned one! Whoa! He is such a crazy little monkey go-getter and such a joy (most of the time)! ;-) It was a pretty quick decision for us that his birthday party would be Very Hungry Caterpillar themed. He is into EVERYTHING and has wanted whatever is on our plates since he was able to indicate it!
Well, naturally, I had to take this birthday party theme and extend it into a concept mini session for him! :-) I decided it would be really fun to get photos of him with each of the foods from the book! I knew I wanted to keep his outfit simple, so I crocheted him a little caterpillar hat and a coordinating diaper cover to give him the feel of a caterpillar, but not to make it too costume-y. If you're interested in your own set, buy it here!
I'm kind of obsessed with my red chevron backdrop and totally overuse it, but it just seems to work with everything! The colors I used for his crocheted set were red, green, and yellow and red and green were the colors I went with for the birthday party were red and green, so it was only fitting for this shoot that I stuck with the red chevron... I also made use of the cute red and green chevron triangle pennant banner I made him. If you'd like a pennant banner, head over to my Etsy shop and order one now!
Being the curious kid that he is, I had no doubt that he would very adorably interact with every food I put in front of him. The biggest pain in the tush was the hubby was on call, so I had to do all of the presenting with food, switching it out for a new one, cleaning up, and trying to ensure the three year old isn't getting into too much trouble all by my lonesome! Not fun! Ahh well such is life!
The weather was cooperating nicely, so I ended up setting up everything outside of our house in Boonton, New Jersey in the driveway! Our house isn't the most natural light friendly house so I always sort of dread having to shoot inside, so I jumped at the chance to move outdoors! It also made for much easier clean up of all the crumbs! :-)
It was a little crazy and a little stressful but couldn't have come out cuter! Enjoy!
