Oh my peas! This little lady was simply GORGEOUS! And look at that family! Perfection!
This little lady was in a bit of a rush to get out of mama's womb and ending up making her grand entrance a little early. Luckily, everything was just fine and she got to go home with mommy and daddy pretty quickly so they could enjoy being home with their perfect little peanut.
Although newborn sessions are usually booked months in advance of birth (many book during their second trimester), the due date is simply a guide for scheduling! I block off time in my schedule based on due dates to ensure I will have enough time in my schedule to have dates available within two weeks of birth (the "ideal" window for newborn sessions based on sleepiness and scrunchiness).
Some babies arrive a little earlier than expected, which is why I only book a limited number of sessions in any given window. It allows flexibility for the unpredictable arrival of these little ones! Some babies also arrive extra early and require a bit longer stay in the hospital to make sure they're ready to head home. I want to stress that the two week "ideal" window is not an end all, be all! I have photographed newborn style sessions in babies as old as six weeks. Sessions are longer and some poses are much less likely to be possible, but if your newborn had an extra long hospital stay or you didn't realize until baby was already past the window that you even wanted newborn photos, don't stress! We will get in your session when baby and parents are ready and we will get BEAUTIFUL photos!
Anyhow... Back to this sweet little lady! Mom requested to have some of the session feature some bold jewel tones. I don't often get this request as many clients prefer a softer palette for their newborn, but I am always happy to do something different! It was exciting getting to do some new combinations and try out new setups! So don't be afraid to request something different than what might seem "typical". Soft palettes are beautiful of course, but sometimes it's fun to be different!
I hope you love these as much as I do!
